Davina's campaign has fully funded! 🎉 A Beam employee is now supporting her on her journey through training and into work as an accountant.
But other Beam members need your help. Support the greatest number of homeless people to train up and get into work by giving monthly.
Like many young people, I went to university hoping for the best but after something awful happened I had to leave my course and return home. I couldn’t afford a deposit and no one was able to house me, so I spent the next 6 years sleeping on different sofas and going back and forth to collect belongings. My outlook became increasingly bleak. I began to struggle with depression and anaemia, the latter of which led to brief hospitalisation.
Things changed when one day I sat down to really think about what to do next. After completing some online research, I settled on becoming an accountant; I’d always been great at working with numbers and enjoy logical puzzle solving.
With a clear plan in mind, I knew I needed a room and after some work found a young person’s hostel I could self-refer into. The result? I’m now living in the hostel and nearly at the end of my level 2 accounting qualification. The course has gone so well and the teacher tells me I’m the top student in the class. Now I need your help to get my level 3 and turn my training into full-time work and an income!Show More

Too often homeless people are forced to lie out of sheer desperation. We think it's better when relationships are built on trust and honesty. Beam verifies each member in 4 ways:
1. Referral: every member of Beam is referred by a registered homelessness charity.
2. Interviews: before their campaign launches, each member is interviewed twice by a Beam Member Manager.
3. References: we take references on each member from the charity who refers them and someone in a position of responsibility.
4. Profile: we take great care to verify information in a member's story is true.
It's your money.
We work hard to ensure that you can give confidently.
